Nusa Lembongan, Bali 2018
I had a three night stay on Nusa Lembongan staying at Tigerlillys and exploring Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan on a motor scooter.
Tigerlillys is very picturesque, loved the food, and the staff are very attentive. They arranged the boat trip to and from Bali and a motor scooter for me to use and everything went without a hitch despite it being a very busy time with many tourists choosing to go to Lembongan rather than Lombok because of the recent earthquakes.
After settling in at Tigerlillys I took a walk along the beach towards the hill and then a path around the hill to another small beach surfers were using to access the surf break. Resorts with sea view pools and restaurants are stepped up the hill. Some idyllic spots to sit and have a drink and watch the boats coming and going and the sun set.
The next day with a motor scooter I headed east along the beach road towards the Mangrove Forest stopping to take photos on the way. I was considering a boat trip through the Mangrove Forest but as there were many people and my time was limited I decided to leave that for another time.
After lunch I took off up over the hill to the other side of the island and the Yellow Bridge which takes you on to Nusa Ceningan. And then a "don't miss" drive along the beach front to the western tip of the island and Secret Spot. This area has recently been developed and is quite idyllic.
On the way home I ended up at Mushroom Bay. I hadn't intended visiting here as this is where I stayed when I was in Nusa Lembongan about five years ago. There has been a lot of development on Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan since then.
The next day I visited Dream Beach where I had lunch and then later Sandy Bay both of which are well worth a visit.
If you are in Bali I thoroughly recommend taking a few days to visit Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. The boat trip is about one hour and includes well organised pick ups and drop offs. There is a lot to see without travelling great distances. Next time I go I will take a trip to the third island in the group Nusa Penida.
Lembongan Community give out an excellent free map/guide book.
